Sharing Space : Perth Africa Connect

For the month of October 2017 Adam Chienjo and Henry Anyanga (Izo) were Artists in residence at Perth Museum & Art Gallery, a project devised and organised by Su Grierson. Adam a dancer/choreographer from Nairobi Kenya, and Izo a singer-songwriter drummer from Nairobi and Hamburgh, together with Su Grierson delivered a month long programme including a Gallery exhibition, community workshops in the Museum and other venues, interactive ‘jam’ sessions and performances. In addition they jointly developed visual and audio material for a series of creative videos in response to various rural and urban locations; time based explorations of place, history and social engagement.

The project was developed after Su and Adam met and worked together on The Performance Corporation’s multi-disciplinary ‘Space’ residency 2015 at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Ireland.
